Eco-Friendly Carpeting Made from Recycled Plastic Bottles
You may be aware that plastic bottles can be recycled into a number of items, including building materials such as fencing and composite decking. But there’s another use for recycled plastic which you might not know about: carpeting for your home! Watch this video to find out more.
Replacing Cracked Floor Tile
To replace an individual cracked tile in a ceramic floor, you want to begin by chiseling out the grout surrounding it. This isolates the bad tile from the good tiles, so you can carefully remove it without damaging them. When the space is cleaned out, you can apply thin-set to it with a notched trowel.
Cleaning and Staining Grout in Tile Floors
Often stained grout lines can be corrected with a generous dose of bleach and some serious scrubbing with a brush. When that won’t do the trick, you may have to resort to grout stain. This material is applied directly to the grout to mask the stain and change the color and seal the grout to prevent future stains.
Cutting Ceramic Tile
Almost every ceramic tile project will eventually involve some cutting. For straight cuts a manual scoring tool will do the job, if you get a quality one. You line up the cut and run the scoring wheel over it a few times, then firmly press down to snap the tile cleanly. For more complex cuts you’ll need to rent a wet saw. This tool uses a diamond-tipped blade and a constant stream of water to keep it cool as it cuts.
